Congress secures Second Street Project Funding
Senator Schumer and Representative Tenney Secure $1 Million in Federal Funding for Second Street Renovation in Village of Geneseo —
The Village of Geneseo announced today that United States Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Representative Claudia Tenney (R-NY) have secured one million dollars in federal funding to complete the long-anticipated renovation of Second Street between Center Street and North Street.
Second Street is a key transportation corridor connecting residents, students, local businesses, and visitors to the heart of the Village. Funding will support critical infrastructure improvements, including roadway reconstruction, pedestrian enhancements, and accessibility upgrades, improving safety and functionality while strengthening the overall character of Geneseo.
Village of Geneseo Mayor Christopher Ivers emphasized that the investment will have far-reaching benefits for the community, supporting local economic development, encouraging walkability, and ensuring the street meets modern standards for safety and accessibility. Completion of the project will also help preserve infrastructure for long-term use and reduce future maintenance needs.
Mayor Ivers expressed appreciation for Senator Schumer’s and Representative Tenney's continued advocacy for infrastructure investment in upstate New York and for his commitment to ensuring smaller communities receive federal support. The funding represents a significant step forward in Geneseo’s ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure and enhance quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
Construction timelines and additional project details will be announced as they become available.
